Artist in Residence Charles-Antoine Chappuis

Charles-Antoine Chappuis' exhibition revolves around the shape of the spiral, which has a silent yet overwhelming presence in the cityscape of Bolzano. The artist reflects on this specific shape and allows it to expand through different media, from drawings to textiles; ultimately inviting us to look at our surroundings anew and pay attention to every detail and variation.

About the Artist

Charles-Antoine Chappuis is a Swiss-Brazilian multidisciplinary artist, living and working in Amsterdam.

His practice focuses on creating sculptural objects. His work emerges from intuitive, open-ended and process-based forms of experimentation, which often finds its roots in natural material and handmade processes.

These materials are then applied and given form according to their intrinsic qualities, often resulting in a raw object, playfully referencing archetypal forms of the home.

His sculptural lamps and amphorae have been exhibited in galleries around Europe but are also sold in design shops such as Cibone in Tokyo or Frozen Fountain in Amsterdam, continuing therefore to blur the boundaries between art and design.
